Founded in 1632, the University of Tartu (UT) is the largest and most comprehensive university in Estonia and one of the most respectable centres of education and research in Northern Europe. 

It is the 300th university in the world, which means it belongs to the top 1.2% of the world’s universities (QS Rankings 2021). UT is home to 13 000 students, including 2200 international students from over 100 countries. UT is famous for its research-based education. UT belongs to the top 1% of the world’s most-cited research institutions in the fields of Clinical Medicine, Plant and Animal Science, Chemistry, Environment/Ecology, Social Sciences, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biology and Biochemistry, Psychiatry and Psychology, Neuroscience, and Behaviour, Geosciences, Pharmacology and Toxicology, Microbiology. 64 UT scientists belong to the top 1% of most-cited scientists in the world (ESI 2021). Admissions Requirements

  • Secondary education or a corresponding qualification – please see country-specific document requirements HERE
  • Proof of English language level (IELTS 6.0; TOEFL iBT 72, etc.). More details available HERE
  • For Medicine, applicants are required to take the BioMedical Admissions Test

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for English-taught programs vary depending on the program. Please see below:

  • Business Administration – 3,800 Euro / year
  • Science and Technology – 5,000 Euro / year
  • Medicine – 12,000 Euro / year

  • Tuition waivers
  • Scholarships for the students already enrolled (i.e. achievement scholarship, etc.)
